The Strathspey Railway is hosting the Railway 200 Train "Inspiration" in October.
Join us in celebrating 200 years of the modern railway with Inspiration, a one-of-a-kind touring exhibition train created by Railway 200 in partnership with the National Railway Museum. This vibrant, interactive experience is designed to excite, enlighten, and inspire visitors of all ages. The Inspiration train will be standing at Boat of Garten station on the 16th & 17th of October.
With five trains operating between the 16th to 18th of October, the railway has issued special tickets, Day Return and Unlimited Day Rover (In addition to its existing tickets) to ensure that all who attend can experience intensive service days, with a mixture of Steam and Heritage Diesel locomotives hauling the train services.

Perfect for those seeking a single scenic journey, the Day Return ticket allows passengers to choose one of the eight scheduled trains running on their selected day. With this ticket, you can enjoy a relaxing journey aboard your chosen train, One journey, one memorable Strathspey railway experience.
Take a nostalgic train journey through the Cairngorm National Park. The return trip lasts around 1 hour and 40 minutes departing Aviemore visiting Boat of Garten and Broomhill stations before returning to Aviemore. These trips are usually steam-hauled but are subject to change.
Setting off from Platform 3 at Aviemore station, through to Boat of Garten and on to Broomhill, the railway takes you on a twenty-mile round trip along part of the original Highland Railway mainline. As the train passes moorland, through woods and alongside the meandering River Spey, stunning Cairngorm Mountains scenery is ever present. Join us for a nostalgic journey and savour the sights, sounds and smell of a bygone era.

Dogs are permitted on these trips, but not in the bar or dining areas including First Class with the exception of assistance dogs.
Children under 5 are free of charge but please ensure you still add the ticket for them to ensure we allocate enough seats for you.

Travel on any—or all—of the eight trains operating throughout the day. Hop on and off as you please, Enjoy the full Strathspey railway experience at your own pace.

Travel between Aviemore and Boat of Garten on a single journey that offers sweeping Highland views and a nostalgic atmosphere. Along the way, our knowledgeable Guard will share insights into their vital role on the railway and answer any questions you may have.

To ensure your safety and enjoyment, please note the following:
Age Requirement: Passengers must be 18 or over
Health & Safety: A declaration form must be completed prior to travel
Accessibility: Due to limited space and access, wheelchair access is not available
Footwear & Clothing: Please wear sturdy footwear and dress warmly—the van is open to the elements at both ends
Mobility: You must be fit enough to climb on/off the vehicle at platforms or sidings (in case of emergency)
Locomotive Selection: Refer to the Brake Van Timetable to choose which locomotive you'd like to ride behind
Tickets: Sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
